The following project in the Sacramento Metropolitan area was awarded contractor of the Year (CotY) from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (Nari) for residential projects over $250,000.
This Sacramento are home is owned by a wonderful family that wanted to consider Mom, Dad, high school daughter, and aging in-laws. Therefore, it involved a massive 1,000 square foot addition, and building it on the side of a hill; as the level ground was all built out. Structural severity was enormous with portions of the foundation on a 4” slab, and the balance on a stair-stepped stem wall to accommodate the hillside. Fourteen foot tall great room ceilings, (2) two stories of living levels with a (10) foot crawl space and a spiral staircase; required great carpentry and perseverance.
The west facing elevation was loaded with low-e tinted windows and sliding glass doors that provided an unbelievable view, as well as make this home appear even larger. A synthetic deck with a powder coated decorative guardrail was installed all the way around the home on the hillside for enjoying the exterior ambience as a family. The interior reveals a large great room with custom coffering, accent paint and Venetian plaster. The first floor offers an engineered pre-finished hand-scaped hickory flooring and the spiral staircase along with the second story studio are adorned with bamboo flooring.
The kitchen offers top of the line appliances (commercial style with l.e.d. lights), a huge island (stainless farm sink, warming drawer, plus microwave) with brushed nickel standoffs that hold a piece of 1” glass as a sushi- style bar counter. All cabinetry throughout the home is stained frameless maple topped with gorgeous granite and marble. Glass mosaics as the backsplash add the finishing touch to this awesome kitchen, well deserved by a great family.
